Kaitlyn Willis

Meet Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn and her quarter horse, Buster, are a barrel racing team that has been together for over 24 years. Kaitlyn has spent her life involved in horses, agriculture, and western lifestyle education.

Her experience began in childhood, and over the years she has been involved in barrel racing, western pleasure, drill teams, steer showing, and youth agricultural programs including 4-H.

Her lifestyle of lifelong equine background has given her a strong foundation in horsemanship, barn management, livestock care, outdoor education, and youth mentorship.

Today, she continues to stay active in the equine industry by organizing rodeos, barrel races, and horse-related events while continuing to work hands-on with horses.

She is a proud mom of two children under 12, and motherhood deepened her passion for creating meaningful learning experiences for kids in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment.

Kaitlyn understands how valuable hands-on equine education is for confidence-building and believes that outdoor experiences can be foundational in a child’s growth, both inside and outside the barn

Her gentle approach and instinctive insights help riders gain skills, build self-confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for horses and farm life.

Why Horses?

Horses act as highly perceptive "emotional mirrors" that provide honest, non-judgmental feedback to human behavior. Their natural herd instincts require clear, confident leadership and emotional regulation. Horses build a child's perception and confidence by offering immediate feedback to their physical movements and emotional states. This interaction teaches children to focus on the present moment and adjust their actions. Successfully leading a large animal shows kids they can handle big challenges

Emotional Mirroring & Mindfullness

Because animals naturally rely on sensing energy to survive, they immediately react to your body language and tone. If you project anxiety, a horse may pull away; if you adopt a calm, grounded posture, they respond with relaxation. Mastering the care of an animal much larger than themselves proves to children that they can tackle intimidating situations.

Non-Verbal Connections

Horses live entirely in the present moment. When you interact with them, you are forced to clear your mind of outside worries, which naturally lowers stress hormones (cortisol), heart rates, and blood. Children learn to read subtle animal body language like ear positions, tail swishes, and tense muscles, making them more perceptive observers.

Building Trust and Confidence

Successfully directing a 1,000-pound animal requires clear communication, boundaries, and patience. When a horse responds positively to a human's assertive and confident lead, it boosts the person's self-esteem.

Learning to interpret a horse's subtle physical cues teaches humans to be better listeners and highly empathetic observers of human and animal behaviors.
